An Laurence is a musician (guitar/voice) based in Tiohtià:ke/Mooniyang/Montreal who is active in the contemporary/experimental music scene. She is also a performance and multimedia artist whose work focuses on memory and transnational identity. A daring performer, she collaborates with artists from various disciplines and thrives in contexts that reimagine traditional musical performance. An Laurence’s musical style ranges from classic contemporary music to electronic music, voice works and musical theatre. Her first solo album, "Almost Touching," was released in May 2022 on the people | places | records label.
An Laurence’s work has been presented by, among others, Accès Asie, the Music Gallery, No Hay Banda, Oh! my ears, Lucky Penny Opera/re:Naissance opera, Chinatown Biennial, MUP and Tranås at the Fringe. She has been an artist in residence at Oboro and Vidéographe. Her recent works include the narrative performance “Approach, I will tell you what I forgot” and the musical theatre performance “Songs of Love” (comp. Elischa Kaminer).
